Description / aims

The Clinical Research Center/Transregio about the adrenal gland (CRC/TRR 205) unites all relevant disciplines concerning the adrenal research including the neuronal, immunological and endocrinological regulation. Eight different institutes located in Dresden, Munich and Würzburg are jointly working not only on the basic and translational research but also on the clinical adrenal research.

Goal is to explore the fundamental role of the adrenal gland in the context of dysfunction, tumours and systemic diseases. This research work makes it possible to define the central role of the adrenal gland in the bodies stress system connected to frequent metabolic and inflammatory diseases.

Patients suffering from adrenal diseases, such as Morbus Cushing, CONN- Syndrome, Morbus Addison and pheochromocytoma, will be treated at the adrenal center in Dresden. Optimal care will be guaranteed due to the close cooperation of clinical experts and researchers of the clinical research center.
