Basic-Clinical Translational Research Award of the DGE 2024

(Translationaler Forschungspreis)

Ausschreibung 2023 (DE)

Call 2023 (EN)

With this award, the DGE promotes the cooperation of young basic scientists and clinical scientists in order to promote and initiate joint projects of endocrinological research with high translation from basic science into clinical application. In a joint project, two young scientists are to be funded who, as an interdisciplinary team, receive start-up funding in order to submit a joint project funding application to the national funding organizations.

Eligible to apply are 2 young scientists each, who must be DGE and ESE members and plan interdisciplinary projects from the fields of natural sciences and medicine (postdocs and doctors until the submission of the habilitation). Participation in the annual meeting of the DGE is expected.

Basic translational research and clinical research linked projects in the field of endocrinology are funded with a budget of € 30,000 for a team for one year. The funds can be used flexibly for personnel costs and material resources.

Innovative research projects are funded that link basic research with clinical research in a special way (bench to bedside, bedside to bench) and have the prospect of further competitive funding. For example, questions regarding molecular mechanisms can be addressed for clinical observations or the clinical relevance for findings from basic research can be investigated. In this way, significant gaps between basic research and clinical research can be closed and new therapeutic concepts can arise in the future. Furthermore, the potential of the independent scientific development of the applicants is taken into account.

Please find below the materials that must be submitted (in English language). After end of the funding period, a report of a maximum of 3 pages is expected.

Please submit your applications by using the online form by 30.10.23 as a pdf not exceeding 8 MB.
